One of England's most beautiful and historic cities, Salisbury is compact, walkable and full of charm. From the soaring spire of its magnificent Cathedral to the ancient stones of Stonehenge just down the road, you are perfectly placed to explore. Here is our guide to making the most of your stay.

Where to Eat

The Great Bustard (Michelin-listed), Anokaa (modern Indian), Cafe Diwali, Cote Brasserie and Giggling Squid (Thai) are all excellent. Ask us for personal recommendations.

Cafes & Coffee

Fisherton Mill Gallery Cafe, Culture Caffe and Boston Tea Party are local favourites for breakfast or a relaxed coffee.

Pubs & Bars

The Haunch of Venison, dating back to 1320, is a must-visit, along with the independent bars around the Cathedral Close.

Salisbury Cathedral and its Magna Carta, Stonehenge (20 to 30 minutes), Old Sarum, Wilton House, and the New Forest National Park (around 20 minutes by car).

Getting Around

Salisbury is wonderfully walkable, with the Cathedral, shops, restaurants and most attractions just a short stroll away. Salisbury railway station offers direct trains to London Waterloo in around 90 minutes, as well as Southampton, Bath and Bristol.

The Stonehenge tour bus departs from the station, and taxis are readily available. For those driving, several public car parks are within easy reach of both properties. Full parking details can be found on the Wiltshire Council website.
